After 7 send ins for repair and about a billion calls to apple... I am still stuck with a non functiong 1400$ brick. The closest Apple store is an hour and 45 minutes away, applecare is no help, and my screen shuts off b/t 15 and 30 minutes of use and a restart is the only thing that will bring it back. My logic board has been replaced twice.

The first Product Tech at Apple to actually do something helpful for me has quit his job. He told me that it was definatly a hardware issue. The lowest tier applecare tech has had me on hold for an hour and 35 minutes now (on my cell wasting my minutes). Only to tell me about 20 minutes ago that he was sure it was a software issue. I've reinstalled twice. I've lost every application every document because the laptop wont stay on long enough to backup. This is about to be a 1400$ brick that gets thrown in the trash. I'm waiting to be tranferred to a higher tier product specialist that probably doesn't exsist.

I'm tired of talking to apple. They may be fast, but their not helpful.

My Ibook is a piece of crap.

The battery has started going too. I get about 45 minutes on the battery and I've asked them multiple times to look at all the variety of issues I've been having and nothing being done.

If I have to drive to Norfolk, VA again without resolution. I'm leaving my computer on the genius bar and driving home and buying a 800$ toshiba and getting out the old ubuntu live cd.

Thanks for listening to my rant. If you work for apple pm me, we need to have a chat if you can help me.

Okay I'm done.

Since they have changed the logicboard has been replaced twice, I doubt it's that. When the display goes black, if you shine a bright light on the face of the screen, can you see the desktop at all? I am wondering if it's a Backlight or Inverter issue. Either that or they are NOT really changing the Logic Board. Just a thought in case.

I'm so happy to have this resolved. Now lets hope I don't have any issues with this computer.

Heck yea man! I'm so happy. He was like "After 7 months man I'm really sorry we've put you through this, I'll be sending you a brand new MacBook Pro (tech reads out the specs to me), and it'll be at your door in 5 business days"

Miles that is such an awesome outcome! Real glad for you! And to think you're getting a MBP is so totally cool of the Apple techie!

At least he recognized your persistence in wanting to stick with an Apple product no matter the many hardships you went through. :)

BTW will skip this week's IRC chat, will definitely make it for next weekend's get together though!

Not at all. It's on Freenode.net. Grab an IRC client like Colloquy or Conversation, set up irc.freenode.net as the server and join #mac-forums.

If you need help with setup, just ask.

Our main scheduled chat is Sunday evenings at 8PM EST.

Not quite sure how to set the server. I've just added you to iChat. My nickname is stonecarster. Perhaps if you've got a sec you could give me a hand?
Thanks

I can't wait to be a part of the apple family. That is customer service at the best I've heard of. They didn't just update you, they updated you with top of the line (or at least, not a regular Macbook)

Haha for sure the best. It may have taken them awhile to do something but when it was finally resolved I've never been more impressed with the customer service.
