Quick question about the mac desktop

Is there a feature with OSX that lets you have 4 desktops that you can switch between like the function in linux where you click one of the 4 squares and it switches to a diffrent desktop where you can have different things open?

Is there an equivalent to an alt+tab? Does this just switch between applications or is there any nice transition animation like in vista?

There is supposedly going to be one built-in to Leopard, but for now Tiger users can get a similar functionality with a free program called VirtueDesktops. Check out this thread where I give a fairly detailed rundown on how it works, and what I think of it.

Quick answer: I use it, and it works rather well. Little different from what you'd be used to from Linux/CDE/Gnome, but same functionality.

Yes... It's Cmd+Tab (Cmd is the "Apple" key)
