Hi, I was wondering if two macs (both ibook G4's) with airport cards could communicate directly with each other when they aren't connected to the internet.

Airport to Airport, when they met, it was murder!

Yes they can, if you have bluetooth. Or you could mount each others hard drives, or connect using an ethernet cable. www.apple.com/support will have the info you need and I'm sure we can help you here if you need it.

Yes. Simply set one up to create a network and have the other join it.
