Will the movie be the last piece of the puzzle or will they continue making them? I heard somewhere that fox signed a deal with them for 4 more seasons, is that true? and wouldnt that make it the longest running series in the history of american tv?

Regards.

Probably the longest running comedy or animation. The longest running TV show is "Meet the Press" which is still running of course.

Simpsons is the longest-running animated or live action sitcom, as well as the longest-running, prime-time, animated series in America. Info from Wikipedia

It's been the longest running animation show for many years, and just keeps extending it's lead with every show.

Longest by time, but not by episode count.

I saw an interview with the creators. He was asked if Homer was going to die. He said, of course not, there is a new season this fall...

I just wish we would get new Simpsons in England, that's not on Sky.

Matt Groening has said that "as long as we have fun doing it, I don't think we'll ever stop the Simspons" Of course this may not be true.

However, I expect the movie to raise ratings on the show, and attract more veiwers.

At the earliest, I see the show ending in 5 years. Minimum. However, I think it will go for a good 10-15 years more, if not more.

Same here. I just have such an appreciation for the writers of that show, because I have a really unique sense of humor.

As long as the creators are still having fun and they don't get writer's block, the Simpsons family will never die.
