switching username?

If I want to switch the users name on the computer, how do I go about doing so?

There is software called ChangeShortName on versiontracker that purports to do this. Have not tried it, so proceed at your own risk!

theres got to be a way

say for example you are giving your computer to your little brother for his birthday, theres got to be a way to change the username from my name to his name. how do you change the username on the mac??? plese someone let me know!

The easiest way?... just use your discs and reformat the computer.
Just be sure to get all of the stuff that you want to keep from it first.
That way, when your brother gets it, he can set it up the way he likes it.

Or, in System Preferences > Accounts have him create a user for himself, then delete your user. Easy!
