• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Okay, here's the deal. I have about a 700Mb .avi file that will play under VLC Player, but I want to put it on a DVD.

I usually just drag it into Toast and it will encode the file and fit it properly on the DVD, but not the program just hangs and I have to force quit it.

Then I thought I could drag the clip into iMovie and make into an mpeg-4 video so it wouldn't needed to be encoded, but then iMovie never responded and I had to force quit it also! Help!

a lot of support here - http://www.apple.com/support/imovie/

make sure you have the latest free update 6.0.something

then post back if you've made any progress or fixed it.

Thanks for the link buddy. I currently found a free program that will convert it all for me, it's called "Burn" and it's doing it at blazing speeds! It's at about 36% and has been running for about 25 minutes, which I consider to be pretty good for a 700Mb file.
