Total iPhone Costs

If I want to buy a new iPhone what are my total costs going to be? Phone cost of course but what else?

$36 activation fee
minimum of $59.99 a month for 24 months

So assuming you don't go over your limit and incur charges there for extra calls, texts, etc, you're looking at around $2075 for an 8 gig and $100 less for the 4 gig.

With taxes etc it might end up being a little higher but that's the ballpark.

well that $2075 is for the whole 24 months right? Not to walk out of the store with it?

Out of the store the only cost is the phone + tax

after i pay for the phone, activate it and pay for my plan are there any hidden charges? does checking email or surfing the web cost extra?

If you want to say first month:

iPhone: $523.95 - 628.95 (4-8GB assuming 5% tax)

Activation: $36

First month: ~$65 for a 450 min. plan plus taxes and fees

Total: ~$624.95 - 729.95 for the first month, ~$65 thereafter

Data is unlimited, texting is 200 messages per month inclusive.

You should really check out Apple's or AT&T's site.

All of this is spelled out.

email and web are included in the $20 per month data plan which is part of the total bill. For example, the cheapeast plan is $59.99 which is $39.99 for the phone and $20 for the unlimited data plan.

Ok thanks. I'm in the market for a new phone, have been for a while. I'm ok with the iPhone price tag plus activation. I was worried that the data would be extra but since it is unlimited I'd say that $59.99 for the cheap plan is fair. Thats more than I would ever need.

Data and unlimited texting is only an additional $40/month.
