Sources said that Apple is currently testing Keynote 1.0.2, the second minor update to Apple's presentation software. Version 1.0.2 will reportedly include a variety of improvements and enhancements.

Several of the changes will deal with exporting and compatibility. QuickTime exporting for presentations will be improved, as well as Keynote's import/export compatibility with PowerPoint. Additionally, presentations that are exported to PDF will have a smaller file size.

New preferences will also be present in Keynote 1.0.2, with regard to the "flip" and "cube" transitions, as well as a setting dealing with image resolution when inserting images, fitting them to a slide.

Interface enhancements are also being developed, such as improved feedback when using the navigator view to work on slides, and a new feature allowing users to go right to a specific slide while a presentation is in progress.

Other updates will include bolstered QuickTime playback in presentations and minor additions to chart labeling features. Also, Keynote files, as well as the pre-designed themes that accompany the software, will be marked by a smaller file size.

Keynote 1.0.2 is scheduled to hit the final "gold master" stage by the end of this month, and will be released to the public shortly afterward.

The first update to Keynote, Version 1.0.1, was released in late February. The $99 Keynote software was announced at Macworld Expo/San Francisco.
