Mac Haters

I'm sure there are a lot of threads on Mac Vs. Pc's or whatever, but here is my opinion I just wrote on my blog after getting sick of Mac haters attacking Macs:

"Ok, I'm sick of people saying Macs are for people that don't know how to use computers. That couldn't be less true. It's quite the opposite. People who use Macs more often then not know a whole lot more about computers then most PC users.

Macs are simpler, yes, but that doesn't mean they can't do as much or more, it just means they are easier to use and actually do what you want them without any problem, something PC users are unaccustomed to.

If you ask someone who says that Macs are stupid and they hate them why they feel this way, the best they can come up with is "I don't know, I just do." Atleast have a good reason. Don't put something else down when you know absolutely nothing about it, it only makes you look stupid.

One last thing on my enraged tirade on the annoyingness of Mac haters: I don't hate PC's. I know they network better for businesses and play games. I don't mind PC's, I just strongly prefer Macs.

So if you have a problem with Macs, don't even bother saying anything unless you have a valid point other than they don't play games.

K I'm done. sorry to be so angry, I just got tired of it al. Especially people on blogs and youtube saying mac users think computers are only for music, movies, and porn. Ugh its so unintelligent."

I couldn't agree more. I actually had to give a 30 minute lecture to some ignorant PC people. They came out wanting to steal our school's C2D iMacs.

It's even more sad when they think that OS 9 is still the standard OS, and refuse to even take a look on the new OS thinking it's the same old. Or even more sad when people (or this person at least) think that Apple only makes IPods

Why do I make myself a target? It seems you're getting mad at people that stereo type, then turning around and stereotyping a group of people yourself. Very hypocritical of you and not very effective in getting readers to agree with you.

C'mon. Not every PC out there is a virus laden pig that does something completely different when you want it to do a certain task. Just like not every mac user is a moron that doesn't know how to use a computer.

I didn't realize that so many people hated Macs. I have never heard anyone say that mac users are morons that don't know how to use computers. But then, I skip over most of the blogs and threads that look like they were written by a fourth grader. Once cursing is used as an adjective I move on...

The main problem with windows haters is that they have never used OS X, or at least not to the extent that a Mac owner has. After using OS X, you realize just how much better it is than Windows (I know I did!).

What is also equally as annoying though, are Mac elitists that try to bash anything Windows related, especially the recent switchers who act like they've been Mac users all along or dont think of it as anything more than a fashion statement.

However, I have never been a PC hater. PCs are not like what the "Get a Mac" commercials make it look like. Vista been a HUGE improvement over XP (Despite the higher memory requirements), although Leopard is going to blow it out of the water when it comes out.

You have Intel iMacs at your school?!?

We're stuck with crappy P4 HPs with glued DVD drives and floppy drives with paperclips and staples stuck inside them.

Mac haters are just people who haven't been shown how computing is meant to be done. SHOW THEM THE LIGHT OF OUR CREATOR... STEVE JOBS!!! :Shouting:

Anyway, I feel that Macs have gotten a much better reputation ever since they switched over to the x86 platform. I have to admit that many of the Mac users I knew before the x86 switch were avid PC haters. But I feel that now, everyone on both sides seem to be more open to new things, especially since Macs can now boot Windows OSes.

Ah good point sir. I did sort of stereotype a bit, but I tried to use "most of..." where I talked about PC users, because I know there are plenty of PC users who know a whole lot more about computers about me. I also agree every PC is not a "virus laden pig" (haha that's a great man.)

I just got tired of friends, and mostly youtube comments. (go to youtube and watch anything on Mac or PC and look at the dozens of 4th grader comments bashing either company. It goes for both PC and Mac)

There are also retarded PC Haters out there, that think every computer is a "virus laden pig" (ha ha) and think PC's aren't good for anything. I know PC's can do some amazing stuff and do a lot of things as good as macs can. It's just a preference. But I just don't like people bashing macs without any reason.

Ha ha, your probably a lot wiser then me. I read all the comments and then get mad. Probably wouldn't have wrote this if I was more like you ;D

Nah but still. I have a lot of friends who use Macs, and they all love them. But whenever a PC user thinks of getting a Mac, all the other PC people say "No don't get one! They're stupid. Get a dell"

Its like if your friend wanted to buy a piece of magic candy, but all the haters are trying to tell them to buy a piece of death and suffering candy instead. Wouldn't that make you mad that people would try to make them eat such a vile candy?

I never hated mac users, but I didn't like using the OS's when I had to for work. I loved my Apple IIc when I was a kid, but after not using them for a while and then using OS 7.6.1. I didn't like it so much. After using OSX, I liked Apple again haha. Then shortly after, I purchased my MBP. Have been loving it ever since.

I still use my PC for work and games, but I prefer OSX to Windows right now.

So true. Most people think of macs as those computers with the one button mouse, usually thinking of OS9.

Hello!

I'm new to Mac Forums, but I had to join after reading this thread since I've had a similar experience with "Mac Haters."

My younger brother has two friends who are PC experts. I know from talking to them that these guys know very little about the Mac. Yet whenever we all get together, both these guys...one of them in particular...can never keep from spewing a little bit of venom my way.

Recently, it's been over the iPod and the iPhone. "Mike" will say something like "yeah...I've got no use for that iPod. I can get an MP3 player that'll do the exact same thing for $100 bucks!!" When I said that no, actually, he couldn't. He looked at me like I was an idiot, and emphatically said, "Uh...YEAH, I could." Then I said, "Well I love my iPod!" and he said, "That's because you drink the Apple Kool-Aid!!" At which point my brother and his friends all gaffaw and talk about what cultists Apple users are.

Yesterday was the same. I was wearing my "I love iPod" t-shirt, and they started in on the iPod, then they switched to the iPhone and what suckers people are that spend $500 on a phone. I showed them my Treo 650, told them that I paid about that much for my Treo, and have never regretted my decision. One of the guys says: "I can get that phone for FREE if I wanted!!" When I told him that no, he couldn't, this guy says, "Well, why would I want a $500 phone when I can get one just as good for FREE?" When I said a free phone wouldn't be just as good, they basically laughed and started talking about "kool-aid drinkers" again.

Just curious....how do you all handle such blatant Apple hatred?
