Help! I'm a newbie to the Mac and have inherited a Powermac G5. I reset the machine password using startup disk and holding the C key down and chose " archive existing files".

Now I cannot acces these files --they are "locked"

Can anyone walk me thru a procedure to unlock the archived files???

Oops... When you 'Archive' files, the system would probably use the old password to encode the archives... unless you know the pass, i think those files are history. Unless some one here know's differently.

Of course, you could ask the previous owner... maybe he/she be so kind.

Just wondering what is the name of the archive file? I am thinking it maybe a tarball file.
