this is an expensive version but anything might work?

i have tile floors in my house but i seem unable to keep things clean, even by any standard. i live in a rural area and the dogs track huge amounts of dust fur in the house.

My uncle bought an iRobot Scooba for my grandma since the mop is getting a little hard for her to operate. He got for around $300 I believe and its ok. The only gripe is having to move everything out of the room that its currently cleaning. And if you have a pretty large house then you'll need to purchase another battery. We use it to clean four different rooms and I have to let it charge for four hours before cleaning the next room. In the end, its sort of a hassle but we got it for free so we might as well use it right?

You'll definitely want one from iRobot. Even their high-end model is under $500. Here's the website:

http://www.irobot.com/

They make 3 models:

1. Vacuum robot
2. Sweeper-mop robot
3. Workshop robot

The Vacuum robot (Roomba) works on both carpeted and hard floors. They do have special Roombas for pets that have thicker brushes to deal with fur. The Sweeper-mop robot (Scooba) only works on hard floors such as tile because it's got mopping juice in it. The Workshop robot (Dirt Dog) is more for industrial floors like a concrete garage floor. For an in-depth review, check out my review of the Roomba vacuum here:

Roomba Review is a great resource (like Mac Forums but for robots) for robotic vacuum cleaners:

I have 4 robots from iRobot and I love them. I'm slowly building an evil droid army to take over the...er, I mean, they make great robot cleaners - I would recommend them to anyone :) I currently have 3 vacuums and 1 workshop robot. I don't have the mopper robot because my kitchen is tiny - I just use an electric Swiffer mop for that. Here's a good in-depth comparison to the Trilobyte from a guy with dogs:

Feel free to ask any questions :D

You'd have to move everything out of the room to use a regular mop anyway, right? ;D
