    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.

I've been offered a full retail version of Final Cut Studio with all the manuals etc. The problem is it has been registered before and the guy has upgraded to FCS2. Is it possible to re-register the software? If so how do I do it?

I don't really want to say no it's free! Help me please been looking around online but can't find any info.

Take the freebie if it's legitimate, you'd be mad not to. As for re-registering your best bet is to contact Apple or ask at one of their stores. I'm not sure that you actually need to register your programs to use them. I just bought a copy of Logic and still haven't registered.

yeh it's legit and I know I have to take it but I want to upgrade to FCS2 in a year or so. He says he's completely removed it from his system.

I believe when you install the pass key, the appliation will ask if you want to register now or later. You then can choose the later option, but you may want to check with Apple to be sure.

I doubt you can use that to upgrade. It has been registered and already used to get the upgrade of FCS2. Really, I doubt the previous own has the right to even give it away. It is effectively part of his FCS2 license.

I did not even think about other person maybe buying an upgrade, instead of a full license version.

yeh I think your right xstep.... but there must be some way of getting round it getting a new serial some how from Apple. I have it now so keeping it. Has anyone out there had any experience with this sort of thing before? I don't mind shelling out for FCS2 in the future but would rather get this one registered in my own name. I'm not giving up!:(

If he did do a full install and not an upgrade could he transfer his registration?

I think so. You'd have to confirm that with Apple. Perhaps there is a hint in the license agreement.

I read the Transfer section of the license. It says 'you may not rent, lease, lend or sublicense the apple software. You may, however, make a one-time permanent transfer of all of your license rights to the apple software to another party' it goes on to say that as long as the person gives you the whole boxset with license and serials, that they dont retain any copies of the software on their computer and that you are in agreement with these terms, you can tranfer license.

As he has done all those I think I can register it gona check with Apple though.
