Hey everyone, I'm not kidding around when I tell you that this works.

A month ago, I got done reading Neal Boortz's latest book "Somebody's Gotta Say It!" In the book's last chapter he stops doing political rants and leaves the reader with a great money saving tip that I tried and it actually worked. It's such a simple idea that most people don't think about it. What is it?

Never spend a $1 bill. You can spend $20's, $10's, $5's, but never a $1. It worked. I've been doing this for a month now and I just checked the jar I've been keeping and I have nearly $80 in there. I didn't even use cash for all of my transactions this month, so the total could have been much more. Seriously, I was skeptical of the claim, but I can honestly say that you never realize how many $1's you go through in a month until you refuse to spend them.

So, I just felt like sharing that with you all. Try it!

I never really use cash, but this sounds like a good way to fool yourself into saving. Nice.

Neal is a cool guy too.

The $1 plan doesn't work here because Canada has $1 and $2 coins. It's a secret government plot hatched to force everyone to spend money. It works because if you don't spend them, your pockets drag along the ground, and a jar full of dollars weighs 3,000 pounds.

I do the same with change. I never spend change. The dollar thing sounds cool though. May try that.

I do the same thing with my gold and silver coins in Australia. And yeah it really works. In 2 years I had around $1600. That with student discount was almost enough to purchase the imac I wanted. It really works. And surprisngly You're not missing out on much by saving as all that money would have gone on pointless stuff anyways.

I usually just say I'm going to save a certain percent of my paycheck. Depending on how much I usually make, most of the time I automatically save 30% of my checks and keep them in the bank, and my account steadily grows over time, before you know it, you'll have a lot of money!

My father always taught me, even if you have bills, ALWAYS pay yourself first.
