• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Depends on what you will be watching them on. If you are going to watch them on an ipod then h.264, if on TV .mp4 or .avi, but h.264 can be viewed on a tv as well. I haven't messed with the new one much yet, so not sure how many options you have.

If you have bit rate options or size options, go with size, and for a 2 hour movie, make it about 1 Gb to 1.4 GB.

Something like that.

hope this helps, but watch for better replies.

Look under Docs for Mac OSX. You can use those as a staring point and move the bit rate and video size up to what you want. The tutorials are a bit dated, I have not updated them lately, but they work.
