I just purchased the Bose Companion 5 for my new iMac 24". I use iTunes, and the audio is pretty good. However, with some albums, the vocals seem to be too much in the "background". It sorts of drowns in the music.

I tried playing the same songs in my VLC player, and it sound so much better than with iTunes.

Any ideas how to get the iTunes audio to get better?

I have not had this audio problem with iTunes prior to getting the speakers. I want to use iTunes rather than VLC. I have tried the iTunes equalizer.

Thanks for reading.

Check to see whether you have any other iTunes audio options turned on:

iTunes> Preferences> Playback:
Sound Enhancer
Sound Check

Both of those will cause your audio to sound different. If that isn't it, check to see that VLC is not using an equalizer that is adjusting the sound.
