Making wav files louder. . .

I have switch and I can convert files to wav files. . is there a way or program to make them louder. . .i herard maybe on garage band, but i dont know how in there. . .any help would be appreciated. .

before you convert them to wav you could try this program.

Get AUDACITY. It is truly an awesome litte program for audio editing. And it is freeware.

Hopefully im not sounding patronising but the best way to make them louder is to normalise the file; a pretty standard edit function in most audio editing packages. However, this will bring up the noise floor so any background noise or hiss will be amplified too.
