• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hi-

So I am trying to burn something onto a DVD-RW from my New Macbook. I put the DVD into the diskdrive..it makes some noises..and then mabye 5 seconds later the DVD pops back out. I thought that it was the brand/kind of DVD's so I first tried Sony DVD-R and then I tried Philips DVD+RW and neither have worked.

Advice/Help/Comments? PLEASE

Thanks

I've personally never have been sucessful with DVD+RW disks, or even re-writable cd's for that matter.

Try using a DVD-R instead. Is it impairative that you use re-writable media? What burning software do you have on your Mac, or are you just doing the drag/drop through Finder?

Are you burning, or rather attempting to burn, data OR video onto the DVD? If the latter; what software are you using? Toast?
