Just got a new MacBook with Office 2004. I'm trying to send an invoice to a client, and it comes through as a .doc file, but is all askew when they open it up in Office 2003 (Windows). It says right there in the "File>Save As" menu that my Mac Word document is "compatible with Windows Office 1997-2003"....?????? Any ideas? Thanks.

Hmmm.....I'm not intentionally doing any of that, I'm simply opening up an included template (Invoice), filling in the blanks, saving it as a .doc file and then sending it off....

Try something dead simple. A blank file (NO templates). Fill in a couple sentences and send it off. See if they can open that.
