Will FCP 2 work with other versions?

I plan on purchasing a MBP and FCP 2 this summer (I need them for college in the fall). If I have the newest version of Final Cut and my college is running a different version...will I be able to move back and forth between the two, or is it not backwards compatible?

I will assume that you mean FCS 2 which includes Final Cut Pro 6 because FCP 2 does not run on intel macs.

I know projects made on old versions will work with the FCP 6, however with all the new features I find it hard to beleive that the old version will be able to read files made by the new version.
You can allways render to a quicktime file.

Which version does the school use?

Yes, I did mean FCS 2. (sorry, I'm new to the mac world!)

I'm not sure what version the school is using, but I'll look into it. Thanks for your help!
