I am getting emails with this blue box where OBVIOUSLY a photo should be. Clicking on the box does nothing. Any ideas?

Your right about it being an image. I'm guessing the orginial emailer didnt inlcude the photos in the email, the ? means that there should be an image there but it cant be found.

You May have your "Display remote Images in HTML messages" Do you get a load images button at the top of your mail ?
if so go to Mail--Preferences--Viewing and tick--Display remote Images in HTML messages box

However it's a good thing not to as it helps to fight spam

if you are really desperate for the image ask for the email to be sent again and see if the image sends.

Actually I have the same problem whilst viewing some websites, and if I then open the same website using firefox, no problems. A good example of this is the following website:

http://personal.optus.com.au/web/oc...=/personal/mobile/prepaidmobile&site=personal

I just deal with it.. I love Safari and it's a great browser, I just figure that maybe in the future when Apple releases say, Safari 3.0, they will have worked out the "kinks" - such as this, and other issues with safari posted in these forums.

Mike I just looked at the link you posted and I too get plenty of blue question marks. I looked at the source for the page and, although I am no HTML guru here and I'll readily fess up to it, I found the image tag kinda strange in its construction. Here it is:

<img id="static_file~dafiles~ab5feb4a04522010VgnVCM100000c8a87c0aRCRD" height="43" alt="'yes' Optus Logo" hspace="0" src="http://personal.optus.com.au/web/ShowBinary/SCSRepository/assets/images/logos/optus_logo.gif" width="74" border="0" /></a>

And with that number in the tag (I underlined it), looks like it's a timed session ID meaning this will work only once and if you revisit the page, I think the session ID has to change to allow you viewing the page. Maybe this is an Internet Exploder-only HTML construction?

Anyway, a member with more knowledge in this HTML business will surely explain this better than I can.

Like Kilted1, posted you probably have a setting disabled in your Mail.app preferences and this will block spam images, but I had to set a rule for one of my email accounts to immediately send to the Junk folder all emails coming in with .gifs as spammers will use that type of image to flood our email accounts.

Look at the screenshot below to see where the setting is in the Preferences.
