In future I'll be verifying if the Telstra Shop is an Official or Licensed Shop....

How crazy is this ... it's just been revealed that there are two types of Telstra outlets .... Licensed Telstra Shop & Official Telstra Shop ....

The Licensed Telstra Shop (privately run) can add a mark-up (usually up to a few hundred dollars) to their mobiles while the Official Telstra Shop will sell that same mobile cheaper.

The only way to tell the difference is the store sign has Licensed in small letters above the 'Shop'part of "Telstra Shop" ...

.... the things they don't tell you ...

Sneaky, very sneaky.

There is a similar situation here in Texas with Cingular stores. They all have the big Cingular sign, but the "Licensed Telstra Shop" equivalent always has something in the window somewhere that says it is an authorized reseller vs. being a company store. You have to look carefully though.

It doesn't really affect me cos my mobile cost less than $AUS100 and was bought from the local post office. But kids are always getting these expensive mobiles and it makes you wonder that parents are forking out more than they really need to. One particular mobile was $AUS300 more at the licensed Shop ....
