Spyware and Adware?

i was just wondering, since you don't need an anti-virus and firewall for the mac, does the mac get any Spyware/Adware?

Well - It CAN be possible that you could get somthing..

The liklihood is very low at present.

As Macs get more and more popular, we can expect to see more of this sort of thing happening, but Mac's inherent security model (derived from unix) will provide a fair bit of defense.

You have to look to fiction to find an instance of anything wreaking havoc on a Unix system (Jurassic Park reference).

Spyware are just Windows programs that usually use the registry to embed themselves in the system. Since Macs don't have a registry and can't run Windows programs, they are unaffected by malware.

If, however, your Mac is so equipped and you run Windows programs, these will be subject to all those annoyances--viruses, spyware, etc--so you will need to have protection.
