eh, not bad. Too 'photoshop filtery' for me.
At least there's no lens flare :p

I think it would look better without the motion blur - it's not really needed.
Would be cool to see it gone all out though - little droplets on the ground plane, perhaps some steam coming off it - a nice smooth aqua-like reflection on the ground too.

Not a bad job though. Not an easy task you set yourself :)

I like your ideas about the droplets, steam and reflections. I'll try it when I have time. The motion blur cannot be undone though, I did not save a copy before applying the motion blur.

Nice, but the apple logo gets a bit too lost for me.

I wonder if there's a way to make psd animations. What I had in mind is an animation of the logo coming out of the mist by the continuous change of layer settings. This is could solve the 'apple logo gets a bit too lost' problem and I think it would look great.

You could try saving the image multiple times, each version having a slightly different look (to allow for the apple to be seen more) then use some form of fig animator to chuck all the JPEGS into an Animated GIF.

Then your multiple JPEGS could move as if the apple was coming out from the mist :)

I like them both. The first version would make a good advertisement logo. The second would make a perfect desktop.

I'd recommend always saving a copy of the .psd when doing stuff like this, so it can easily be undone and changed if you wish to later.

Imageready can do basic animations, but I'd recommend Aftereffects by Adobe. You can import psd files, layers and all, and export in a range of movie and image sequence formats.

I would normally make back-ups for everything but since this is only a leisure project, I skipped it. Now I regret it.
MacBurg, thank you for the tutorial!
Aftereffects seem promising but I guess I will not be spending the extra money.
BTW, viridian, glad you like it
