I have been told that it takes away from the conversation and can be annoying.

But KoDor... your avatar is animated! And what a manic animation it is too! LOL

As for resizing your pic, macfellow, try this image editor ImageWell, it'll do what you need. Then you can upload it, once the image size is right, to the Mac-Forums server, navigating to the resized image file on your Mac.

Currently shopping for my first Mac.
Mac Forums resized my image for me automatically. I think the max width and height is 100 and mine was 200.

Maybe the forums only resizes images that are close in size though?

Could be. Maybe your image file was accepted because the weight was good too.
