If you go into your System Preferences -> Dashboard & Expose', take a look at your keyboard shortcuts and see if F7 is set as a shortcut.

Hopefully that helps you out.

Just out of curiosity while we're on the subject - I recently had an opportunity to connect my MacBook Pro to a Polycom video conferencing system to "share" the screen over a video conference. On my PC notebooks, this would entail making the physical connection and then hitting a key-combo to toggle between the internal and external display. I tried using F7 & Fn-F7 to make it work, but no dice. Instead, I brought up display properties and had to hit "Detect Displays", then my screen resolution was automatically changed to 800x600 (on both displays) and it came right up. I'm not sure if this was a quirk of the Polycom system, but in my experience, PC laptops usually keep the main display at its native resolution, but send the external display something that the external monitor can handle. Am I missing something? Is there any easier way to get this to work (in the event I need to hook up an external display or projector in the future)?
