Just out of curiosity, and because I like to talk about books, what is your favorite book?

Mine is 1984 by George Orwell, but Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton is a close second.

my dad had that book in his house the whole time i was growing up. i think i read it every time he took me for a weekend.

as an adult, when i remembered it at some point, i had to buy it for myself.

my kid is just about the age where i'm going to start reading it to him.

Me too, customer. 1984 by George Orwell.

I'll give honourable mention to "House of Leaves" by Mark Z. Danielewski, if you like something a little different (Ok, a lot different) then this is the one. Then again, the 1st page reads simply "this is not for you" and it may be correct...

My high school American Government teacher was such a huge Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy fan that if we read any of either of their books he'd give us 100 points extra credit.

Perhaps low brow, but Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy!

At a more serious level (I know, I am cheating - entering two books!), I would have to vote for "The Road Less Traveled" by M. Scott Peck. An excellent and inspirational book.

I'm not very big into reading for whatever reason, but the only book in high school that I actually read the whole way through and enjoyed was To Kill a Mockingbird.
