Networking problems

Ok so my home network is all pcs except for mine, which also means that the printer is connected to a pc. its easy for me to connect to the network through the wireless router to get internet access, but how do i access the network to get shared files and be able to use the printer? I really have no idea because my mac isnt seeing any of the other computers on the network. HELP

yeah see my problem is the other way around. with his post he needed to connect a pc to a mac with a printer, but i need to connect my mac to the pc with the computer. I would try the same steps as he did but the second post says that it does not work this way.
