• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hey everyone. I'm trying to convert AVI to, well, anything! I am having the hardest time doing this successfully. I tried using visual hub but it gives me a "denial or acceptance" error, tried using VLC wizard but it just crashes and I tried using ffmpeg but I don't get any sound, which is the same for when I use iToast 7--there is video playback but no sound. Can anyone PLEASE help me out?

I have had many of the problems you did when converting video and NEVER GETTING AUDIO!! I was trying to convert videos to my iPod, if that was what you were wanting. If that is what you are wanting to do, the best FREE option is iSquint, (iSquint.com). This converts AVI, MPG, MPEG and others to MP4, the iPod format. It has very fast conversion time and good quality. Visual Hub, actualy, is the "Advacned Version" of iSquint, but when I used it, it didn't work, so I would just stick to iSquint. If you want any other info just ask!

Use the a52codec.

http://www.mactcp.org.nz/quicktime/ I use the codec at the bottom and that took care of all of my avi audio problems in quicktime
