Ever had your site ripped off?

Have you seen the similarities between my site, www.texelate.co.uk and http://www.optimal-marketing.com/?

How blatant!

This really irritates me that someone has the nerve to try and pass off something I've designed as their own. Has anyone else experienced this and did you taken any action against it?

Wow, that's pretty shocking. I never expected it to be such an obvious rip-off. I can only imagine how annoyed you must be...

Are they just using the same software template?

They've copied the same text aswell as design, even the "about us" write-up.

What so you mean? It's not a template, I'm a professional web designer.

The only major difference I can see is that their contact page doesn't seem to work...

If you designed it you own the copyright, ditto in relation to the text: anything you write and publish is legally yours. You do not have to apply for anything to back this up. If it comes to any dispute, you can prove you created the site because the files on your computer will be older than the files on their computer.

Send them a firm email stating that unless the site is pulled down within 24 hours you will take legal steps.

PS: didn't mean to offend re the template remark – it's a very attractive website!

I have acquired more information about the site owner. I will pm you as soon as I can.

The alt text all contains Leeds Web Design and Texelate stuff in the ripoff site too

Hint for rip-off merchants - make sure that if you're going to blatantly copy another site, you at least edit the alt text

I was bored and put 'texelate' into Google. It came up on the third page.
