• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Okay so I just got a Mac Pro last Saturday, been using PCs forever. I've never had any problems with quality issues when encoding a divx/xvid file to dvd on a PC, but I made a dvd in iDVD and I put two xvid files into the project to be encoded. I'd say total run time for both files combined would be about 100 minutes so it's not like I'm trying for a 4 hour DVD here. Anyways when I encode and burn the dvd the quality of movie drops alot, jagged edges everywhere. I have "Best Quality" checked in the iDVD preferences so I don't know why it's doing this. I have all proper codecs installed for divx, xvid, ac3 audio, ect. Anyone else have this problem or know how to correct it? Would it be better to put the two movies into iMovie HD and encode them with that? I hope someone can give me some advice, thanks!
