What version is my mac?

Hi everyone! I just got my first mac, a mbp, and it is great! I'm starting to install some programs, but I have no clue what version my osx is? Is there any way I can tell what version I'm running? I have searched, and could not come up with anything.

You will be running mac osx tiger 10.4.8

Select the "About This Mac" from the Main Menu. There you will see the current version installed.

Go to the apple logo at the top left of your screen and click on about this mac.

It will show you the OS version as well as much about your machine.

Click the Blue Apple (top left) and choose About This Mac The info is presented in a small window which will also include you processor type and installed RAM figure.
