I have had my imac 20' for a couple of weeks now & I am hooked up thru a router with 2 other PC computers. Every so often I will lose my connection . There is nothing coming up saying that a wire is off but if I go to use the internet it will just sit there searching for my homepage. Usually if I leave it for a few min it will come back up again. While I am down the other computers are fine. I have checked all the ethernet wires & they are fine & all the lights on the router are on & doing what they do. Anyone have any ideas ??

Thanks

No I am on DSL. I did reboot the router & that did seem to help. Most of the time this is lighting fast but there is just times that it just sits there & does nothing.

I love my new imac it is so awsome.
Still learning lots.

is your network secured through a wep key or anything?
sometimes this can cause problems...
Any other networks or wireless devices around that could interfere with this?
Also try phoning your isp for help

when you say reboot my router did u just turn it of then back on?
this happened to me and what fixed it is you actually have to take out the power cord and let the router(obviously off now without the power cord pluged in) sit for a minute then reconnect the power cord and see it this helps.

it did for me

This is a wired network he is having problems with, however those suggestions are good for anybody having wireless issues.

Is the internet dropping all together (aim, safari, other browsers), or just taking longer then usual to load a page?

I took the plug out of the router & left it off for a min. Ever since then it seems to be working alright. Before I would go to a site & it would just sit there with a white page loading . It never would come up with anything no matter if I was using Safrai or Firefox. It only does this once in a while though . My ISP has never been off line that I know of & never had a problem with them in the 5 years that I have been with them.

Did I mention that I love my new imac. It is so awsome .

I have the same problem. Every so often the PC and my Mac will just lose their signal. I'm on wireless and the PC is on a cable, but they both just quit at the same time. Unplug the router for about 10 seconds and go for another few hours. It's frustrating.

Have you tried checking the router's Manafacturer site for any firmware updates? I know that Linksys routers had a similar problem earlier on in their life and a firmware update fixed it.

It is a Linksys router that I have, but I'll have to check into the site thing.
