i'm using mac os X and am not very good with computers, however, my parents are. would they be able to use some sort of tracking device to look at the websites i've previously visited on safari after having reset it?

They could be running some "ParentalWare", and if that is the case YOU won't ever be able to tell.
But yeah, so long as you are not doing anything you shouldn't be, looking at sites you shouldn't be, and not downloading things you shouldn't be then you have nothing to worry about :black:

thanks for the help, guys. and just to clarify that this situation goes beyond the issue of porn. it's not really an issue with me since i'm a girl.

If your parents want to, they can install software to know every site you visit, every email you send and receive, etc. OS X also has built-in features to allow parental control over which sites you have access to, etc.

The 21st century rite of passage: doing stuff on your computer without your parents finding out, then finding out they found out.

Nope, most of these programs are completely hidden so you dont know they are running. You have to know the special key command to bring them up.

So just don't do anything you aren't supposed to be doing.

If you're a minor using your parents' computer, welcome to reality. You don't get to figure a way around the security they put in place.

If you're old enough to vote, you're old enough to get your own computer with no one else's spyware on it.

if you're worried about what they might see, you're doing something wrong or not allowed. respect them unless they're abusing you (in which case, report them) and you'll have a much easier life.
