Converting Video TS to AVI

Ok i was filming me and the boys at hockey training tonight and got the video TS folder from the camera onto my hard drive. i now wish to convert the video TS into AVI so i can edit it in final cut pro

i have found software to do this on a PC but not a mac. What can i use?

I believe Visual Hub will do it.

Is visual hub free?

free to try, not sure what the limitations are

Handbrake should do this too, I believe.

Didn't your DVD cam (I assume that's what you're using) come with software for doing this?

DVDxDV is one utility that will convert DVD video into a compatible media format.

There are also some free utilities out there...

• YadeX
• Cinematize (oops, this one isn't actually free)
• MPEG StreamClip

its not my camera so dont have the software

will try out them other bits as well

Ah yes, that could complicate things

Good luck though -- I've never used a DVD camera before, although having to convert the VOB files certainly brings up an interesting drawback. One of the big advantages of a DVD camera is not having to go through the lengthy process of importing video from tape, but having to convert kind of negates that advantage.

That said, the VOB conversion process you've got to do has still got to be (much) faster than the real-time transfer from DV tape!
