Tutorial on Transferring of Files from PC to Mac?

Has any written or want to write something up on transferring importing files from the PC to the Mac?

Is it as simple as using a USB key and copying over?

Are there really any file types that are NOT compatible between the two?

The only file type that I have seen never work with Mac OS X is .exe files. All sort of documents and images work just fine, along with anything else I could throw at it. The only other format that wouldn't work would be some small-scale Windows program that doesn't have a Mac alternative.
