• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have to do a presentation for my speech class. I'm doing it on the crisis in Darfur, and I wanted to make a photo slideshow in iPhoto with music to show my class. I don't have a mac notebook, and my school only has a PC.

Is there anyway that I can make a videofile out of the slideshow, and play it on a windows computer as an .avi or .mpg? I've never explored the video/photo capabilities of my mac until now, so I was hoping someone could offer a suggestion.

Thanks.

I beleive you can export it to a Quicktime file. You should then be able to playtht Quicktime file on the computer at school, if they have Quicktime installed.

Or you can (Surprisingly easily) make a slideshow in iDVD. I've played around and so far have made 2 and they're very easy to make and quite impressive, it also links to your iPhoto library so you just take the pics from there. Then just burn to a DVD and put it in the player. Even if you choose another route for this prioject I'd suggest playing around in iDVD anyway.

EDIT: - You can also add any music you want from your itunes library and then set the transition from each photo to a certain time (1 or 3 seconds per photo, etc.) or just make them fit the length of the song.

You can also create the slideshow in iPhoto and just have it export to iDVD itself

I never knew that. Cheers, I'll give it a try. Can you still use all the themes and titles? I assume you just add them once you're in iDVD.
