Anyone else have roomates?

Right now I live in a not-so-great college house, in the basement even. A pretty bad living situation I have gotten into this year.

To make matters worse there is absolutely no insulation between the 3 "bedrooms" down in the basement, and my new roomate just came home with his girlfriend. They both have had a few drinks in them and they get kinda "loud" at night if you know what I mean. Sounds like it'll be a long night :(

Hmm..that really stinks. I shared a room once right when I moved away from home, it wasn't too bad since we both were never in the room except for sleeping.

I can't wait for next fall, I'm moving into a really nice apartment with 2 other friends. The rooms are huge and we each will have our own bathroom sinks which is a big plus for me since for some reason I'm always wanting to use the bathroom when other people are.

You will miss them when they are gone. I used to complain about MOST of my room mates at uni but since moving into my own pad, its not as fun, the only benefit is lock the door, and walk around naked. Ypu would understand if you have been in Japan in August, 40C with 90% humidity is too much for anyone let alone a Scot.

I remeber one time at uni we when mental with the fire exautiter (however you spell it) and it was like magic snow in side. Cleaning up was a ***** and the 45quid fill up fee wasn't much better.

Ah, I remember my student share a couple of years back - great times.

One of the other guys was some kind of extreme introvert - every one needs time to them selves - but this guy - well we all met on day one - then we were lucky if we'd bump into him at the odd lecture - we never saw him at the house - he stayed locked away all the time. If he had mail you'd take it to his room and he'd open the door maybe 2 inches take his mail - say thanks and close the door !????!

Another seemed fine until he finally fell out with our landlord - in all fairness it took a while - we took a lot of rubbish from that landlord - anyway we all go home for Christmas and this 'student x' trashed the house - well all the communal areas anyway. We had a new house to go to after Christmas and the idea was to go home and return to the new house when term started again - This guy did his stuff after everyone else had gone - first thing we heard about it was when the university informed us our deposits did not cover the damage...

It got a little complicated from that point on!

Looking back though - I still had some great times in my student share homes - great times!

MY first roommate in college was the worst. I walked in on him, ahem, "enjoying some videos", 3 times. He didn't have a computer, so I let him use mine. Bad idea: I find one of his disks in my computer with child porn on it!! I asked him and he said he found it laying on the floor in a classroom and had no idea. I was going to turn him in, but he got the disk back and I had nothing on him. Needless to say, he never used my computer again. I always felt guilty until I read in the university paper the next semester, after I got another roommate, that his new roommate found out too, but got evidence and turned him in. I always wondered why he liked watching "full House" *shivers*

My next roommate was great compared to that, but a total slob. He would buy a large pizza for dinner, eat half, chuck the box under his bed (remember he doesn't clean) and pull it out for dinner the next night, 24+ hours later.

Finally I got a female roommate thinking she would be quiet and clean. Wrong. She didn't clean at all, not even her 2 cats' litter box. I had to do it to avoid fecal smell all the time. Best part: her and my last, messy roommate got married!! I've never been to their house, but I would guess I couldn't make it through the front door anyway.

So, I'm done with roommates.

Yea one of my first roomates was really weird and creepy. He only showered maybe 3-4 times a week and had really long ***** hair that he would throw in about a gallon of gel each day. Then not wash it out. From the eight months I have lived with him, I did not see him once remove the sheets from his bed and wash them. Disgusting!

I have two roommates right now: my wife, and my cat. Neither of which are too bad, although the cat likes to try and yank my headphones when I don't pay enough attention to her.

Ugh.. This reminds me of my first college room-mate.. I lived on residence.. The door had "Welcome Bryan (me) and Muhammid"... 3 weeks goes by, no room-mate.. So, naturally I took all of "his" furniture and made it accomadate me (the desk, chairs, table, tv, etc).. So I was out doing laundry on a Sunday (had a huuuge party, 80+ people, in my room the night before), and when I got back, there was this guy moving his stuff in. I figured "hey cool, I got a room-mate." The guy's dad was ****** about having a huuuuuuuge load of beer cans (weren't allowed to have [single-serve-glass bottles]), which totalled out to about $200 in empties.. Anyways, he didn't like that, or the fact there WERE some beer bottles in the room.. AND that everythign was moved around. I had calmly and civily basically said "since he's here now, I'll move all the stuff back to its appropriate spots" .. Which I did..

The guy that moved in was not the Muhammid guy, but still an East-Indian guy named Garren... He seemed like an alright guy.. My entire stay there of 4 months, he did nothing but go to class, come home and watch retarded shows like Gilmore Girls, Smallville, Sabrina the Teenage Witch and the like... I hate TV in the first place... He would always crank it up abnormally loud till 3.. 4AM.. I mean, having the TV on that late doesn't bug me.. But having it loud when I have my Cisco-Data Communications/Networking class at 8am the next morning... F that idea...

Anyways.. Apart from the TV issue.. Since he was East-Indian (nothing against them), he also brought a lot of curry with him.. Now don't getm e wrong, I love curry and spicy food.. But I'm sure most of you know that when it's being cooked.. It flippin' STINKS!.. he left one weekend.. My clothes smelled so terrible, I had to throw some out. No matter how much I washed my clothes, I couldn't get the smell out.

And to top it all off.. The dude would not talk to me hardly at all.. It was a very "uncomfortable" situation I guess you could say. I'd ask him if he'd want to hang out with me and my friends, or if we were going to the bar or whatever, he'd just say no and watch his Gilmore Girls (i f#$%ing HATE this show).. He had some of his friends come down for the weekend one time, and one of his friends was VERY Polish.. And once he got the majority of a 40oz of Vodka into him.. He wasn't so pleasant.. I was ready to seriously lay it to this guy.

in "appoligies" if you even want to call it that, my room-mate gave me the OTHER, un-opened 40oz of Vodka that they didn't drink.. Thanks, but I don't drink vodka, it makes me angry and hurt people (similar to a lot of people when they drink rye/whiskey). Plus, I hate the taste of it, so I don't drink it anyways..

So once the first semester was finished, I bailed out of school in December. (Who honestly wants to take advanced computer-systems technology anyways, when video game design screams your name on it?).

I even tried talking to my school about getting a room-mate change with a friend of mine down the hall who was in a similar 'sitch as me, but they said no, YET, a lot of the other peopel I knew were moving around rooms no problem.. Another thing that ticked me off..

Anyways, I'm almost enrolled into a semi-private (I guess?) school in Toronto for video game design/developement! :D
