Hey!

I'm looking into buying a new computer, basically for using the internet and doing school assignments, and decided to try out an imac. I'm pretty much trying to find something very cheap, without it being too outdated.

How's this?

What I'm really wondering is if the 10.3 operating system comes with a program that I would be able to save documents compatible with Microsoft Word---which is what my school uses. It says it comes with Open Office, but I haven't heard very good things about it when I searched these forums.

Thanks a ton!

Closer than you think.
Your Mac's Specs
Performa 6116 2GBSCSI 8MB OS 7.5.3
I'd scratch that eBay offer.

Look for G4 1ghz eMacs with Microsoft Office already installed. The more RAM the better. Might be in the $150-300 range.

The emac comes with AppleWorks installed, right?

EDIT: Another question: Would you guys recommend the Tiger OS over the Panther?
