dvd-r vs dvd+r

What exactly is the difference between the dvd-r and the dvd+r ?

It's just they are just two of three competing DVD recordable formats.

some people say dvd+R is more advanced and better than dvd-r.

dvd-r seems to be the standard.

there are two main differences that i know of, one of which is that with dvd+r you can continue writing to it after you stop were as with dvd-r, once you finish writng to itt, even if it was only 1 gb of stuff, you cant write anymore .

dvd+r is also newer then dvd-r, and some dvd players dont support dvd+r wile almost all accept dvd-r

i have some dvd-rw. doesn't the rw mean rewriteable
