I got some very nice Logitech 5.1 Z-5300e speakers for Christmas and I have a MacBook Pro. The cable that comes from the sub has three mini RCA connectors , one for left and right channels, one for the center channel, and one for the rear channels. On the sub it has a setting for 2 channels, 4 channels, or 5.1 channels and if you use 2 channels, you plug in only 1 of the mini RCA cords into the laptop (2 cables if your computer supports 4 channel audio, and all 3 if your computer supports 5.1).
I thought that a MacBook pro did support 5.1 channel audio through the line out. Is there a way to get the 3 cables down to 1 so I can connect the speakers to my MacBook Pro and still have true 5.1 surround sound? Or do I need to buy an external sound card? Thanks!
