does anyone else think a christmas story is overrated?

i know it's enjoyable (at least the first couple times you watch it) but i just don't know if i could stomach it again. even when i see the commercials for it (or ads using it as a culural reference) i get a little edgy.

so, in that spirit...

Clearly that one will be a must not see. Thing looks awful.

A Christmas Story is okay, and I think by its mere overexposure it's become part of the Christmas popular culture. Most people these days seem to know where the expression "you'll shoot your eye out" came from.

As a movie, I find it above average.

My favorite Christmas movies, in no particular order:

- Miracle on 34th Street
- Bernard and the Genie
- It's A Wonderful Life
- A Christmas Carol (Reginald Owen version)
- A Christmas Carol (George C Scott version)
- Scrooge/A Christmas Carol (Alistair Sim version)

(okay, let's get the Dickens out of this list) :)
