So I just started editing with final studio and I have to say I'm not so hot at it yet. Anyways I was just messing around and was wondering how to get a clip to fade into slow motion and have the audio sync up. I'm pretty sure I have to use time remap somehow, but it is showing me no love. I'm sure no one even knows what I'm talking about as far as what i want to achieve, so as an example i'll link you to this skate video.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8676145791540973694#0h42m47s

this should link you to 42:47 into the video, and its when the guy does the rail and it fades in and out of slow motion . Basically i want to know how to do this in Final cut studio. any help is great.

You may be surprised to know that the time remap feature in FCP makes the audio out of sync and there is nothing you can do about it. Sucks, huh? Time remapping issues and the awful title creation tools got me looking into After Effects, which I now use for all my slow motion and titling (ramp slowmo's in AE are a beautiful thing).

Actually, since I started using FCP 5 I have not even bothered trying the re-timing and title tools, since After Effects has become such an integral part of my workflow, so if anyone knows of improvements to time remapping, speak up. But AFAIK, time remapping in FCP sucks.

PS: I shoot and edit a lot of skateboarding, so I feel your pain. I guarantee that slow motion clip of Haslam was not done in FCP.

Maybe this link will get you started. I don't know if they changed the way it works in FCP 5. The LA Final Cut Pro User Group is a good source for tutorials.

Yeah I did a bit more research and found out that getting the audio to work like that in Final Cut is next to impossible. I got after effects and it is real easy, really enjoying the way that program works for titles and slow mo. thanks.
