(how well those games actually work on my macbook is a completely different story...)

Hmmm... that's weird. I have a macbook too. I've only tried it in Diablo 2 so far but it doesn't work.

Try Apple+M, not the same as Alt+Tab in windows but it'll let you get back to Finder.

When you run the game, leave a Finder window open, and try Apple+Tab again. I think it's not working because your game is the only open window.

ugh... i posted some info on this in the macbook forum, but to sum up, i had to turn pretty much everything off. really i might as well be playing risk on my kitchen table.

i would guess III would be much better, just from my experience with both of them running on xp on a 17" laptop with serious dedicated graphics. while IV did actually tax the system a bit, III was like running text edit. :p

i want to try age of empires 2 for the same reason... will probably run ok. maybe i'll pick it up post-xmas.
