• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

So i posted a thread before and i got some different answers here's my dilema. I just got a LaCie dual layer DVD burner. When i burn the dual layer DVD's they won't play on my regular dvd player. How come? It plays dvd+r when i burn them. Someone told that was because regular dvd players can't play dual layer dvd's. But most of the the new DVD's are dual layer and i can't fit what i am doing on a regular DVD+R. What i'm trying to fit on a disk is more than 4.7 gigs which is how much a dvd+r holds. My question is how can i play dual layer dvd's in my dvd player and if not then can i somehow fit more 4.7GH on a regular DVD+R?

The answers in your original thread (here) are not conflicting. Some DVD players cannot play dual-layer disks.

The best answer for you would be to buy a package like Roxio Toast 7, which will compress your material to fit on a standard, single-layer DVD.

(Note to mods: another duplicate thread to this one is here.)
