• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

1. Downloading unlocked apps via torrents is illegal...so no
2. Just buy it, its worth the cost

You can use ffmpegX (it's free and they do not force you to pay for it, just be aware that the message will keep appearing every time you open it). I use ffmpegX or if you want to do the conversion on the PC, use SUPER (also free for download). Both programs do not leave watermarks on video.

for SUPER go to http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html (remember this is only available on windows).

for ffmpegX go to http://www.pure-mac.com/video.html#ffmpegx (this is what you want if you are planning to convert them on Mac)

Did you register the product on your computer using the key they sent you?

How come when I watch the footage in quicktime, and then I move it into iMovie the audio is gone?

iMovie loses audio whenever you import MPEG files (which I assume is what you are converting the .wmv's to)

No, I converted the Wmvs to .mov and I click and drag it into imovie. It works with other clips. But they are on my desktop, whereas the one I'm having problems with is not. Would having the file on my desktop have any effect?

Try converting it to some other format, avi, or mpeg4.

I was wondering if their was a componet I could just drop in my quicktime to play wmv files. Seem pretty lame to purchase it, when all other codecs are free.

The codec to play it is free
