Can't remember name of software

I'm trying to recall the name of an app that I used to use at school that allowed the user to create a play with stock characters that integrated the Mac's text to speech engine into the dialogue and allowed animations and other interesting effects. I used to use it on what I think was a first generation Mac, so I guess it was released around 1998 or maybe a year or two later. This has been annoying me for so long....

This wouldn't be HyperCard, by any chance, would it?

No, I'm afraid not. It was some sort of third party educational software. I think it had a name that related to theater, but I just can't remember the name. Maybe I should look at a list of theater terms and see if one seems familiar.
