I am a pro photography that has an all RAW workflow. I am heavy photoshop CS2 user, spending about 75% of my computer time in CS2. I currently am using a Quicksilver 933, maxed out ram, and stock video card. Lately I find my workflow increasing and the my system is need of an upgrade.

I cant afford to take a speed hit running CS2 via Rosetta on an Intel MacPro ( I have been told it is a noticeable lag). I was curious if I upgraded my G4 to a dual 1.8ghz processor would there be an increase in CS2 performance? Would rather sink $500 into an upgrade and wait till Adobe releases an Intel friendly CS3, but dont want to drop the cash if it's not going to be a noticbable difference in speed.

Any thoughts?

There should be a speed difference for one reason and that is because its written for ppc.

A GeoForce4MX(?) have not upgraded it, so it is the one that shipped with the unit. I am sure an upgrade on that would help some but where would the money be best spent CPU or graphics card?

Defintely the CPU. You will see a marked improvement by upgrading your CPU. The graphics card will add very little (if any) improvement.

I'd wait until April and buy an iMac+CS3.

Otherwise, a second hand G5 iMac would be a better option, but only if you're thinking in the short term.

Bootcamp?

If you have a macbook pro, you can download bootcamp for free, install windows and work CS2 .

It runs much faster and that's what i am doing until CS3 hits.
