Working with Raw

I will be buying a Nikon D50 DSLR shortly. I want to start working with RAW format.
Is the D50 compatable with Tiger 10.4.8? Will I be able to import RAW images in iPhoto straight from the camera like normal?

I've used a Nikon D50 shooting RAW in Tiger with no hassle whatsoever.

Works great with iPhoto and Photoshop.

However the ultimate RAW editor has to be Aperture

It is kinda pricy but I have been using it for the last month and it is worth every penny.

Any chance you could shed some light as to the difference between Aperature and Photoshop's camera raw dialog box.
