How come I cant get iMovie to import audio from my mpgs?

Hello. I am shooting video on my sony cyber shot mpg format. when i import my clips into iMovie, it wont bring the audio. what am i missing? if someone can help me out, please let me know.

iMovie doesnt recognize mpeg format. I'm surprised you were actually able to get the video in and are only having problems with the audio. You need to convert the mpeg file that comes from the Sony camera into a format iMovie can read, such as Mov or DV. You can use ffmpeg to do this...its free.
