I have a new Mac Book Pro. 2 GHz Intel Core Duo, 1 GB DDR2 SDRAM
I was sitting on the sofa typing away. My cats were chasing each other around the house when one of them jumped on the sofa and ran across the keyboard. Now my Macbook Pro talks every time I click on an icon and there is a black box around the icon. I don't know where in system preferences to turn this off. It's very bothersome. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Goto System Preferences ----> Universal Access

Then Turn Off Voice Over.

That should stop it, there is a Keyboard Shortcut to turn this on and off thats how your Cat enabled it BTW

Have the cat run back over the keyboard, see if that works. JK, yeah, you have voice over on
